Evolution

I had really hoped this blog would be a place to muse over my projects and what I was, or was not, learning. It's seems to have lapsed into an FO and yarn acquisition gallery. Maybe that is the nature of craft blogging, as one's skill in a craft waxes, the desire to expound on every learning curve wanes. So where am I? Well, it's kinda been the summer of scarves, for me, rather than a summer of socks. In fact, the only sock news I've got is that the Bayerische sock has been ousted from my knitting basket. After getting a chance to knit on it again this weekend (after stubbornly ignoring its presence in my knitting basket for a month, maybe two) I realized I'm hating the pattern something fierce. It was a mere day in the frog pond when a post by Domesticat caught my eye. Maybe my Bayerische and I just need an extended vacation from each other. If in six months or so I feel the same, I'll know for certain frogging is the right choice. No need to be hasty after ...

Summer, how I love thee...

I woke up with a dime sized, multy-pimply bump yesterday morning, right above the bridge of my nose. And although it had the familiar telltale signs of something else, I immediately coughed it up to my neglecting my skin, as well as everything else over the past few weeks in order to get my fiscal year end work in on time. This morning as I peered at a much redder, larger series of bumps on my neck, below my left ear, I finally acknowledged that which was only subconsciously registered yesterday: I have poison ivy. Hello summer, nice to meet you to you, now F off, would ya? I'm trying not to be a drama queen, but it's plainly a less than valiant failure. I've already begun wishing the rash was considered a communicable disease so that I could stay home from work for a few more days, or more. Yes I would like some cheese with that whine. And ice cream and french fries too, if you wouldn't mind. :-/ I'm just now trying to get back in the groove of my fiber sports. Aft...

Two weeks in May

It's taken me near a month to realize that my spring schedule just doesn't give me the time to blog. Where I prefer to post two or three times a week, with each post on a different project, I find I just don't have the mental reserves. I'm going to have to resort to kitchen sink posts if I want to properly catalog what I've been doing and get through my busy season. If it wasn't for some semblance of recording on Ravelry, the details of at least four of my recent projects would be lost to the ether. Herbed Carrots Sock Somewhere on or around May 12th I finished up Herbed Carrots. It's pretty obvious there is more than a little difference in the sock colors. As they were knit from the same skein, it can't be a dye lot issue. As well, the lack of color in one sock over another means I don't have to blame my math or my gauge this time. It's the nature of indie yarns, plain and simple. And I can live with that, as these will be fabulously warm sock...
